The Democratic debate was just a few days ago, and one thing people are fussing over within the Democratic’s own party is NBC cutting Andrew Yang’s microphone off. However, Yang isn’t the only one accusing NBC of being seedy. Marianne Williamson according to Fox News and Heavy, is also saying her microphone wasn’t on at times during the debate. Williamson even went on Twitter herself to echo Yang:
Either way, to an e-mail to Washington Post, NBC has said they in fact didn’t mute anyone’s microphone. Whether it was true or not Yang and Williamson’s microphone was off, one can’t help but wonder if Yang is portraying the stereotypical Asian male. One who is submissive, passive, and non aggressive.
I think it’s safe to say that if Trump’s mic would have been off, he would have been tweeting during the debate. If Obama’s mic would have been off, he probably would have stepped in front of someone else’s mic. I know I would have. If this is true about Yang’s microphone being off, as much as I want to vote for this man, I’m not voting for a punk. So if anything like this happens to him in the future, I hope he’s aggressive, assertive and breaks down that horrible stereotype of Asian men being submissive and passive!
One thing that is quite upsetting to me is when people say on online forums that kids doing drag is no different than kids doing beauty pageants. WRONG!
First of all, kids who do beauty pageants are performing in an establishment with strict rules and guidelines in which drugs, alcohol, and sex are not allowed. Beauty pageants, which often take place during the day from morning to seven in the evening, beauty pageants which are often advertised as family entertainment. Now, I don’t know how many of y’all have been to a gay club before, or any club for that matter but clubs often than not have drugs, sex, and alcohol especially back stage(where drag queens and other performers hang out). Where a drag performance by an adult will often contain sexual imagery if not wording, child beauty pageants will/nor can not-beauty pageants and drag shows are two completely different environments! Hmm, and people are wondering why more and more young Americans are starting to feel “uncomfortable” around LGBT people.
It isn’t uncommon for drag queens to step forward and talk about doing drugs at drag shows back stage, or even being high while performing, such as one interview Thorgy Thor did a couple of years ago. Adore Delano talks about doing drugs back stage during and after performances. There’s even a video of Sharon Needles (NSFW)performing fellatio on Alaska Thunderfuck. What I’m saying is, clubs are not where a child needs to be. Now if these drag kids were performing at family function pride events then yes, I’m all for it but once the sun goes down, drinks starts pouring, adults start waving dollar bills around, and sex becomes full force- kids need to be inside.
Canyon Lake is one of my favorite places to go during the summer and this summer was no different. Me and two of my friends went today and it was actually supposed to be four of us. One of my friends who lives in Austin, didn’t show up. We texted him Thursday to confirm we were all set and ready for Saturday; however, we haven’t heard back from him at all since we texted him Thursday mid day.
It’s pretty strange for him to go this long without talking, or texting to any one of us. It’s even stranger the test messages I’ve sent-none have been ‘read’. We’ve been friends for almost ten years and needless to say, this is very uncharacteristic of him. If I don’t hear anything come Monday when I get out of work, I plan to call his work and ask of his whereabouts.
Yes, me and my other two friends had fun at Canyon Lake but at the back of our minds was our missing friend who we haven’t heard from since Thursday.
